If you started a course of studies but you decided to change course, ask for the necessary information to the relevant offices in your academic institution about the possibilities you have.
Pay attention! Your choice can have consequences on the benefits for the Right to study.

The withdrawal from your studies is the formal deed with which you officially interrupt your enrollment in your course of university studies, before obtaining the degree title.
If you decide to leave your study course, pay attention to the dates:
- if you are assigned ER.GO benefits and you renounce before 31st July, you will lose your eligibility and you must return the scholarship amount you received during that academic year. You do not have to return sums referred to previous years.
- if you are assigned ER.GO benefits and renounce after 31st July, by getting the credits required by 10th August, you keep being eligible and you can get the last installment of the scholarship.

Remember that you cannot have the benefits a second time for the same year of course. If, following the withdrawal of a career you enroll again to a new course of study, you can decide to keep the amounts received for the previous career, or pay them back and apply for the benefits for the new career.

For instance: you get the benefits for the first year of a bachelor's degree. After achieving the required credits to confirm the scholarship, you withdraw from studies after 31st July and you enroll again in a new course the following academic year. You cannot get the benefits for the first year of the new course, unless you pay back the amount received before.

After the withdrawal, you can ask for the recognition of your previous career when you enroll at the new course. If you enroll at the first year, the credits you may be recognized cannot be counted for the merit achievements. By contrast, they are valid if you are admitted to a year after the first one.

The transfer is the formal deed with which you officially move your career from an academic institute to another. The passage,on the other hand, is the change of course within the same academic institute.
In the event of a transfer or a passage your career doesn’t stop. For this reason, the year of first enrollment doesn’t change. For the purpose of eligibility to the benefits, then, your enrollment seniority is calculated starting from the first enrollment, regardless of the year of course you are admitted to in the new course.

Pay attention! The merit requirement too is calculated considering your first enrollment.

The year of first enrollment is the year you enrolled at the course of studies you attended before the transfer.

For instance: you enrolled at the university in the a.y 2022/2023 to the bachelor degree course named X. In the a.y. 2023/2024 you do a transfer or a passage of course to the course named Y, and you are admitted to the first year. For the benefits purposes, you are nonetheless considered enrolled to a second year because your career didn’t stop. To access the scholarship for the a.y. 2023/2024, you must achieve 25 credits by 10th August 2023 and 80 credits by 10th August 2024 to confirm it

After a transfer or a passage you can ask for the recognition of the exams you already passed. These credits are considered for the merit requirement.
