The Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna is split into 23 faculties.
It is listed in the Top 200 World University Rankings, published in the prestigious Times Higher Education Supplement, in partnership with Quacquarelli Symonds Ltd.
There are also Higher Institutes for Art and Music in Bologna, such as the School of Fine Arts and the Academy of Music “Giovan Battista Martini”.

The School of Fine Arts in Bologna was founded in 1710. It offers first cycle and second cycle degree courses, respectively recognised as first level and master’s degree level university courses and two-year teaching qualification courses.


The Academy of Music “Giovan Battista Martini” is a very traditional educational institution, which has also a library attached, consisting of the Musical Bibliographical Civic Museum with around 30,000 volumes. It offers first cycle (three year), second cycle (two year) and traditional degree courses.
